  • If not, have you tried a 'factory reset' or 'first time installation' of the TV, setting the 'country' to UK? Note that your TV may have a separate analogue tuning system and Digital TV (DTV) tuning system. In nearly all locations in the UK nothing will be found on the analogue one.

The process for obtaining channels is fairly simple. This is normally accomplished by completing a channel scan.

An important thing to note is that the channel structure of an LG Television is broken down into 4 parts in this order (DTV, TV, CADTV, CATV). The channels will only be displayed together within the tuner the TV is currently on. For example:

The TV will cycle through all CADTV stations before it begins to cycle through CATV stations. This means the TV could cycle through channels 2-79 on the CADTV tuner, then jump back to channel 2 to begin cycling through the CATV tuner. It is important to know which tuner the TV is currently using to display the channel. This can be determined by pressing the ‘Info” or ‘Enter’ button on the LG remote.

Check the connection type

In order for your TV to find any stations, you must first be using the TV’s tuner and not a cable box. If a cable box is in use you will need to contact your cable/satellite service provider for further assistance.

If you are using a coaxial connection directly from the wall to the television, ensure the cable is tightly and securely screwed into both the TV and the wall. You will also need to ensure the television is tuned to channel 3 or 4 to receive the stations.

Perform a Channel Scan

If there is a way to make any adjustments to the antenna, please try to rotate or adjust it slightly.

Indoor Antenna

Try moving the antenna near a window or to a slightly higher place than it currently resides at.

If moving the antenna near a window is impossible, try adjusting it slightly in a different direction.

Standard Cable from the wall

There aren’t any adjustments that can be made to get the stations to appear when using cable. Check other televisions in the home to see if the channel is available. If so, there may be a problem with the TV. If not, you will need to contact the cable service provider to see if there is a problem with that particular channel.

Check other devices

If you are using a cable connection, check another TV in the home to see if the cable channels are available.

If so, there may be a problem with the tuner of the TV and will require a service call.

If not, contact the service provider to see if there is a problem with the cable subscription.

If you are using an antenna connection, adjust the antenna and then perform another auto scan.

If channels are then found, troubleshooting is complete.

If no channels are found, you may need to try a signal booster or antenna amplifier.

Depending on the distance between your home and the broadcasting station you may also need to purchase a stronger antenna.

And the Vizio isn't finding them even with a direct connection to the cable, while another receiver does. The first floor don't detect the OTA digital channels (2.1, 4.1, 4.2, etc.) during Auto Scan. If the signal meter above is a little out of your price range or you happen to have a digital multi-meter hanging around your house, you can use it to check to see if you have a signal.
